The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that South Park Street, from Clyde Street to Spring Garden Road, will be closed from Sunday, July 5 to Monday, July 13.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day to facilitate repairs to The Trillium (1145 South Park Street) caused by the crane collapsed during Hurricane Dorian.

There will be temporary disruptions while work is underway:

Motorists:
All northbound and southbound traffic that travels on South Park Street, from University Avenue to Spring Garden Road, will be detoured to Cathedral Lane. A marked detour will be in place and two-way traffic will remain while work is underway.

Halifax Transit:

All northbound and southbound transit routes that travel on South Park Street, between Spring Garden Road and Morris Street, will be detoured to Cathedral Lane.

To accommodate the detour a southbound temporary stop has been installed on Cathedral Lane; and a northbound temporary stop has been installed on University Avenue, between South Park Street and Cathedral Lane.

Pedestrians and cyclists:

The sidewalk on the east side of South Park Street, from 1459 to 1475 South Park Street, will be closed. The sidewalk on the west side of South Park Street will remain open. Bike lanes in both directions, between University Avenue and Spring Garden Road, will be closed. Local traffic will be directed around the work site as necessary.

Parking:

All public parking will be temporarily removed on Cathedral Lane and South Park Street, between Clyde Street and Spring Garden Road. A total of 10 temporary hourly parking spaces will be added on South Park Street, north of Spring Garden Road; and on Spring Garden Road, west of South Park Street. This is to support access to businesses in the area, which will be maintained at all times.

Your patience is appreciated while this work is completed.

Construction During COVID-19: Construction crews will strive to maintain physical distancing measures, however, residents may see workers within two metres of each other while completing certain tasks which aligns with the exemptions outlined in the Provincial Health Order. If approaching construction crews, residents are asked to provide at least two metres of physical distancing.
