The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to use caution while traveling within the Halifax region and surrounding areas.

Wind speeds remain high across the municipality. As temperatures drop, roads will become slippery. Crews are out salting roads and will continue throughout the day as needed.

There are a few roads closed due to damage or risk of storm surge. Detours are in place and motorists are asked to plan for extra travel time.

Crews are working to remove debris and residents are asked to recover items that may have blown off their property.

Current Road Closures

  • Keefe Road, Purcells Cove
  • St. Margaret’s Bay Road closed between Upper Tantallon and Hubbards

Halifax Transit

All bus and ferry service has been restored.

Several buses have been detoured as a result of bridge restrictions and road closures. Riders are asked to plan for extra travel time.

Parks and Recreation

The Public Gardens will remain closed until Monday for safe clean up.

Park visitors are asked to use caution as debris may impact trails or parking lots. If visiting an ocean-side park, please avoid areas near the water, as we are still experiencing high tides and strong waves.

Many municipal recreation facilities are open today, however, some are still without power. Please call your facility to see if your program is still on schedule.
