Traffic stop leads to drugs and weapons charges

A man face charges as a result of a traffic stop last night in Dartmouth. 

At 10:06 p.m. on May 12, members of the East Quick Response Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Primrose Street. The vehicle was searched and a conducted energy weapon, quantities of marihuana, cash, drug paraphernalia, digital scales and two cell phones were seized. The male driver of the vehicle was arrested without incident and transported to the prisoner care facility in Halifax for processing. A further search of the man at this facility produced quantities of cocaine.  

Thirty-five-year-old Ricardo Angelo Sparks has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine and possession for the purpose of trafficking in marihuana. 

Sparks is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today.
