Traffic stop leads to drugs and weapons charges
Man faces charges as a result of a traffic stop in Halifax last night.
At approximately 10:30 p.m. on November 21, members of the Central Quick Response Unit and patrol members of the Halifax Regional Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Robie and Williams Streets. The driver was found to be in possession of a quantity of marihuana and was arrested without incident. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located a collapsible baton, cash, a quantity of hash, and drug paraphrenia. A small knife was also located during an additional search of the male driver.
A 36-year-old man from Lawrencetown has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking marihuana. He was later released and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on January 9, 2018.
