On February 28 at approximately 7 p.m., officers responded to an injured person that was found lying on the roadway near Gottingen Street and Bloomfield Street. EHS arrived and rendered first aid to a 40-year-old woman and then transported her to the hospital where she later died of her injuries.

Witnesses describe seeing the woman slip on ice. Further investigation has determined she then fell under a large vehicle.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service conducted an autopsy and determined that the woman’s injuries were consistent with this conclusion.

Police have confirmed that the vehicle was a Halifax Transit bus.

The investigation remains open; however, no charges are expected to be laid.

Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and everyone who was affected by this tragic incident.
