UPDATE: Police release name of man charged in flight from police

Twenty-one -year-old Tayshawn Chance Maloney of Dartmouth appeared in court today to face the following charges:

  • Failing to comply with a recognizance (145(3) cc) x2
  • Flight from police (249.1(1) cc)
  • Theft of motor vehicle (333.1(1) cc)
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle (320.13(1) cc)
  • Prohibited driving (320.18(1) cc)

One in custody after vehicle flees from police

At 9:11 p.m. on January 4, police attempted to conduct a traffic stop at Robie Street near Lady Hammond Road. The vehicle did not stop and fled from police. Police lost sight of the vehicle and then located it after it struck a tree on Barrington Street near Glebe Street in Halifax. The driver fled the vehicle on foot. Police, with the assistance of the K-9 Unit, conducted a track and at 11:18 p.m. one male was taken into custody.

The investigation is in its preliminary stages and further information will be released when available.
