The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to participate in a survey to help inform future changes to Water Street (Lower and Upper Water streets), from Terminal Road to Historic Properties.
Water Street is among Halifax’s most prominent and historic streets. It plays a key role in the regional roadway network and acts as a focal point for civic events, culture, and tourism. It also serves multiple Halifax Transit routes, is a designated bicycle route, and serves as the primary northbound route for trucks departing the South End Container Terminal and moving through Downtown Halifax.
This project will develop a long-term vision for Water Street that will inform future changes to the corridor. The vision will be developed based on the corridor’s current and future needs as well as policy direction from the Integrated Mobility Plan, the Active Transportation Priorities Plan, and Halifax Transit’s Moving Forward Together Plan, among others.
Two functional design options have been developed for Water Street based on project goals and design objectives. The project team is looking for feedback from the public on the proposed design options. The public may provide feedback by participating in an online survey. The feedback from this phase of engagement will help inform the preferred design option.

La Municipalité régionale d’Halifax invite les résidents à participer à un sondage afin d’éclairer les changements futurs à la rue Water (rues Lower and Upper Water), du chemin Terminal aux propriétés historiques.
La rue Water compte parmi les rues les plus importantes et historiques d’Halifax. Elle joue un rôle clé dans le réseau routier régional et sert de point de convergence pour les événements civiques, la culture et le tourisme. Elle dessert également plusieurs trajets d’Halifax Transit, est une voie cyclable désignée et sert de route principale vers le nord pour les camions qui quittent le terminal à conteneurs de la Partie Sud et traversent le centre-ville de Halifax.
Ce projet permettra d’élaborer une vision à long terme pour la rue Water qui éclairera les changements futurs au corridor. La vision sera élaborée en fonction des besoins actuels et futurs du corridor, ainsi que de l’orientation stratégique du Plan de mobilité intégrée, du Plan sur les priorités du transport actif et du Plan « Progresser ensemble » d’Halifax Transit, entre autres.
Deux options de conception fonctionnelle ont été élaborées pour la rue Water en fonction des objectifs du projet et des objectifs de conception. L’équipe de projet cherche à obtenir des commentaires du public sur les options de conception proposées. Le public peut fournir des commentaires en participant à un sondage en ligne. Les commentaires de cette phase d’engagement aideront à éclairer l’option de conception préférée.
