Halifax Regional Police responded to 1185 calls for service over the long weekend. Some notable calls are as follows:

Police charge man with weapons offences

 

On April 18 at approximately 3:50 a.m., officers responded to an address on Franklyn Court in Dartmouth in relation to a dispute between two people who were known to each other. One of the men was reported to have a firearm.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old man, searched the residence and located a firearm. The man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Uttering threats
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of an offence
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace

Police investigate weapons incident

 

On April 18 at approximately 11:40 p.m. officers responded to a report of weapons call at a residence 6000 block of Quinpool Road in Halifax. It is believed that between 11 and 11:30 p.m. a suspect fired two crossbow bolts through the window of the residence. There were no reported injuries.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact police.

Police charge man with robbery

 

On April 20 at approximately 10 p.m., officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred near the 6100 block of North Street in Halifax. A man with a knife demanded property from and another man who was not known to him. Officers arrested the suspect in the area a short time later.

A 32-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Robbery
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace

Police charge man with firearms offences

On April 20 at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers were assisting Halifax Transit to remove an intoxicated man from a bus that had stopped at the transit terminal in the 800 block of Portland Street in Dartmouth. Officers removed the man from the bus without incident and seized a loaded firearm and body armour from the man.

A 24-year-old man is man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Possession of a dangerous weapon to the public
  • Possession of a firearm without a license
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a court order
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Fail to comply with conditions of a probation order
