Halifax Regional Police responded to 871 calls for service over the weekend. Some notable calls are as follows:
Police charge youth in theft of motor vehicle
On December 6 at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers were around Queen Street and Morris Street when they were flagged down by a man who advised that another man had just stolen his vehicle. Officers located the vehicle a short distance away at the gas station, located at 1145 Barrington Street. The vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed but hit a telephone pole at which time the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
At approximately 10:40 p.m., officers located and arrested the suspect nearby.
A 16-year-old youth, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face the following charges:
- Theft of motor vehicle
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Flight from peace officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
- Obstruct justice
- Breach of release order

Police investigate robbery
On December 7 at approximately 7:25 p.m., officers responded to a robbery in progress at the Needs Convenience store, located at 5881 Duffus Street in Halifax. A man had entered the store, went up to the counter and opened the cigarette drawer. At that time, the employee was able to exit the store safely, without further incident. The man exited the store shortly after with a quantity of cigarettes and fled the area on foot. The employee was not physically injured.
The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 180lbs, 5’10” tall, between 35 to 45-years-old with a stocky build. At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black balaclava, a black coat, grey sweatpants, black sneakers and red gloves with a Coca Cola logo printed in white. He was also carrying a grey backpack.

Police arrest man in robbery
On December 8 at approximately 8 p.m., officers responded to a robbery that had just occurred at the gas station, located at 2616 Robie Street in Halifax. A man entered the store and demanded money from the employee at the counter. The man then fled the area on foot with a quantity of money. The employee was not physically injured.
At approximately 2:10 a.m., officers located and arrested the suspect.
A 20-year-old man was held for court to face charges of robbery, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

Police investigate robbery
On December 8 at approximately 8:15 p.m., officers responded to a break an enter in progress in the 60 block of Pine Street in Dartmouth. Two men had attempted to break into the garage of a residence when they were confronted by the homeowner who they assaulted. One of the men fled the area on foot while the other fled in a vehicle. Officers located the homeowner who was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect who fled on foot is described as a white man, thin build. At the time of the incident, he was wearing white trackpants and a white sweater. The suspect who fled in a vehicle is described a man with a stocky build who was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.
