    The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that there may be some traffic delays throughout the municipality on Saturday, Dec. 2, as dozens of members of the Fleet Diving Unit (Atlantic) and their families take part in a 50-kilometre run to raise money for the annual Christmas Daddies Telethon.

    In response to a media release disseminated on November 30, 2017 requesting information leading to the identification of the driver of a vehicle involved in a motor vehicle collision resulting in a pedestrian being struck in a crosswalk, the driver of the vehicle voluntarily came forward and contacted police on December 1, 2017.

    After a police investigation, which included speaking to the driver, a 66-year-old Halifax man was issued a Summary Offence Ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

    Police would like to thank the driver for coming forward and doing the right thing.

    Mayor Mike Savage and members of Regional Council are inviting residents to join them at this weekend’s lighting of the Dartmouth Christmas Tree. This free family-friendly event will include the lighting of the tree, fireworks, hot chocolate and cookies, train rides, a visit from Santa Claus and live entertainment featuring Mike Cowie & Friends.

    On November 27, Halifax Regional Police received a call from an adult male employee of Starbucks Coffee, 32 Foulis Row Dartmouth, who stated while he was emptying the trash at the rear of the business at 5:25 p.m., a male approached him and assaulted him with a sharp object resulting in a minor facial injury.
