    Halifax Regional Council today approved the recommendation by the Board of Police Commissioners to appoint Don MacLean as the next Halifax Regional Police Chief after a nation-wide search. Mr. MacLean, who is currently Acting Chief of Police for the Halifax Regional Municipality, assumes his new role on August 12, 2024.

    The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that there is a recreational water quality advisory in effect at Kinap Beach in Porter’s Lake until further notice due to high bacteria levels in the water. Residents are advised to avoid swimming at this beach until this recreational water quality advisory is lifted.
