As a precautionary measure, officers with the Explosive Disposal Unit used a counter explosive charge to detonate the suspicious package. The investigation is ongoing to determine the nature of the package. Akerley Boulevard has been re-opened to traffic. Thank you to everyone for their cooperation in this matter.

Halifax Regional Police arrested a 27-year-old man in connection to the robbery at the Joseph Howe Drive Shoppers Drug Mart earlier this evening. The man was arrested without incident in the 200 block of Victoria Road in Dartmouth. He will appear in Halifax Provincial Court later this morning. He faces one count of robbery and four counts of breaching a probation order.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on November 17, Halifax Regional Police received a report of a Canadian Coast Guard ship partially submerged in the 1400 block of Ketch Harbor Road in Sambro Head. A preliminary investigation revealed that someone damaged the slip, which caused the ship to slide back into the ocean.
