Jan 4 just after 11 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons call at Split Crow, 1855 Granville Street, Halifax.  A caller reported a man attacked a 38-year-old woman with a beer glass.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that several comfort centres will remain open in select areas in the municipality.

Due to the current storm conditions and weather forecasts for later today and tonight, curbside collection of garbage, organics, and recyclables in areas normally scheduled to occur on Friday, Jan. 5, has been cancelled.

As a result of the storm, Halifax Transit is notifying residents that the last busses will depart from their start points at 4 p.m. and continue until the conclusion of the route.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that Bayers Road Centre located on 7071 Bayers Rd., will be closed for the remainder of the day, including all municipal offices and customer service centres located in this facility.

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents to take caution leading up to the impending storm. While snowfall warnings have lessened, the storm is expected to deliver high winds and a significant storm surge. The storm is expected to be most powerful this evening and overnight.

At approximately 5 p.m. on January 3, an 8-year-old girl ran into traffic at the 900 block of Herring Cove Road and was struck by a vehicle. The child was transported to the IWK for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. She was not in a crosswalk when she was struck. No charges are expected.
