Police have charged a man for weapons and drug offences after a search of a residence in Dartmouth.
At approximately 8:45 a.m. on October 29 officers responded to an assist citizen call at a residence on Elmwood Avenue in Dartmouth. They observed what they believed to be a restricted firearm inside the residence. Officers obtained a search warrant and conduct a search of the residence. They seized two rifles, a quantity of ammunition and a quantity of crack cocaine.
A 34-year-old Dartmouth man was arrested without incident at the scene. He was released to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:
- Possession of a controlled substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
- Unsafe storage of a firearm contrary to Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code (x2)
- Improper storage of a firearm contrary to Section 86(2) of the Criminal Code (x2)
- Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code (x2)
- Possession of a restricted ammunition with a license contrary to Section 92(2) of the Criminal Code (x2)
