Members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating an assault with a weapon that occurred this evening in Halifax.

On January 17 at approximately 8:40 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a stabbing at an apartment building in the 5500 block of Bilby Street. Investigators located a 37-year-old man who had been stabbed, he was transported to hospital with what is believed to be life threatening injuries.

Police remain on scene in the area.  Investigators believe this is not a random incident.

This matter is in the early stages of the investigation and limited details are available at this time.
