Halifax Regional Police has implemented a number of precautionary measures to protect the wellbeing of citizens and our employees and curb the spread of COVID-19.
As we collectively act to curb the spread of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the health and safety of citizens and our employees is our primary concern. We want to assure you that we will continue to provide effective policing services while implementing precautionary measures to protect the wellbeing of our community.
These measures include:
- Asking additional questions: When calling 911, engaging with our officers or attending our facilities, you should expect to be asked the following questions regarding recent travel and any symptoms of COVID-19 you have/are experiencing:
- Do you have a fever or symptoms of respiratory infection, such as a new or worsening cough or breathing trouble?
- Have you, or someone you have been in contact with recently travelled within the past 14 days to countries or regions known to have COVID-19?
- Personal protective equipment: You may see officers and staff members wearing personal protective equipment such as masks and gloves and practicing all reasonable precautions where appropriate when interacting with members of the public.
- Safety measure posters at our facilities: We have put up posters at our locations and ask that you follow the posted safety measures prior to entering our buildings.
Further information will be communicated when it becomes available. We continue to serve the community with some operational adjustments and work location changes. To limit the number of visitors we encourage you to report incidents by phone and to report theft and property damage related incidents online if possible.
