Police investigate Break & Enter GO#20-46018

On April 15 at 2:03 p.m., Halifax Regional Police were conducting a routine patrol of a construction site located at the 300 block of Higney Avenue, Dartmouth. During this patrol, the police officer came upon two suspects who had broken into a construction trailer and were loading tools from it into their vehicle. When the suspects noticed the officer, they fled from the scene in their vehicle. The officer followed the vehicle behind the construction site where the suspect vehicle drove into a recently dugout utility trench. The police vehicle went into the trench striking the suspect vehicle from behind. Other police units arrived on scene and both suspects were taken into custody. There were no injuries.

One suspect, a 34-year-old man from Bedford is being held for court and is facing the following Criminal Code charges: Break & Enter, Fleeing Police, Driving While Prohibited and Breaches of Undertaking. The second suspect, a 39-year-old woman from Dartmouth is facing the Criminal Code charge of Break & Enter and was released on documents to appear in court on a later date.
