Police investigate robbery in Halifax GO#20-103763

On September 5 at 2:01 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a robbery at Needs Convenience Store located at 6130 Chebucto Road, Halifax. A man entered the store and demanded two cartons of cigarettes and produced a knife to the employee. The employee pushed the panic button. The suspect went behind the counter, took money from the till and cartons of cigarettes from the cabinet drawers. The employee was not injured. The suspect fled the store and ran west bound on Chebucto Road.

The suspect is described to police as a white male, approximately 20-25-years-old, 5’6” – 5’7” in height with a slim build. He was wearing an orange toque, black cloth mask, fluorescent green t-shirt over a long-sleeved white shirt, dark pants and dark sneakers with white soles.

Multiple police units attended the scene and are actively looking for the suspect. The K-9 Unit attended the scene with a Police Service Dog and located evidence associated to the robbery at the corner of Chebucto Road and St. Matthias Street. The PSD followed a track of the suspect which was lost on North Street. A Forensic Identification Officer attended and processed the scene. The investigation will be assigned to the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
