Police investigate two collisions involving impaired drivers #20-140123 & 20-140244

On November 27 at approximately 10:55 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of South Park Street and South Street, Halifax. The vehicle collided with a divider between the roadway and the bicycle lane causing it to roll over. The driver suffered minor injuries and was the only occupant of the car.

As a result of the observations of the patrol members on-scene the driver was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance. Traffic was diverted for approximately 20-minutes.  

A 23-year-old woman from Halifax will appear in Provincial court in Halifax at a later date to face charges of impaired operation of a conveyance contrary to section 320.14 of the Criminal Code. 

 

On November 28 at approximately 9:57 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to an area near the intersection of Akerley Boulevard and Gloria McCluskey Avenue, Dartmouth regarding a report that a transport truck had rolled. It was determined that the truck was loaded with 45,000 litres of propane. Halifax Regional Police with the assistance of Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency secured the area as the situation was assessed.

The driver of the transport vehicle was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was not injured. As a result of the observations of the patrol members on-scene the driver was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance.

A 48-year-old man from Sydney, Nova Scotia will appear in Provincial court in Halifax at a later date to face charges of impaired operation of a conveyance contrary to section 320.14 of the Criminal Code. 

Halifax Regional Police, Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency and members of the Department of Transportation remained at the scene while the safe transfer of the propane was facilitated. The area reopened in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 29.
