The Halifax Regional Police Traffic Unit has charged multiple drivers with speeding and one driver for stunting over the last two days.

In a continued effort to address traffic safety issues and educate citizens on the rules of the road, our officers focus on speed enforcement. Since Monday, HRP Traffic Unit officers have issued 26 summary offence tickets for speeding and one for stunting.

A member of the Traffic Unit issued a ticket to a 53-year-old Halifax woman for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. The officer captured the vehicle’s speed at 165 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Highway 102 near Exit 2a. In addition, the woman was suspended from driving for one week and the vehicle she was driving was seized and towed.

The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.

HRP reminds everyone that we all have a role to play in keeping our roads safe.
