Police charge man for firearms and drug offences

Police have charged a man with firearms and drug trafficking offences in relation to an incident in Halifax on the weekend.

On March 26 at approximately 6 p.m. Halifax Regional Police responded to a weapons complaint in the 200 block of Wentworth Drive in Halifax. Officers located four men in two vehicles at that location, one of whom was injured. Three of the men were arrested and the fourth man fled on foot. Two of the men, the injured man and another man, were released without charges a short time later. The injured man had non-life-threatening injuries and declined medical treatment. The third man was found to be in possession of approximately 2 lbs. of crack cocaine and officers seized a loaded handgun from one of the vehicles. 

Derrick Coryaunt Allison, 30, of Halifax is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm knowing it is unauthorized
  • Unauthorized possession in motor vehicle
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a court order
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
