Police investigate armed robbery GO#21-37142

Police have charged a man in relation to a robbery that occurred in Dartmouth earlier this week.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on March 29 Halifax Regional Police responded to a robbery at Leonardo’s Convenience Store at 95 Caledonia Road in Dartmouth. A man entered the store, produced a knife and demanded money. The man did not get any money but took scratch tickets and dog food.  No one was physically injured in the incident. 

Investigators arrested the suspect without incident at a residence in Dartmouth last night.

Douglas Franklyn Mansfield, 29, of Dartmouth, is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Breach of a court order
  • Breach of probation

On March 29 at 9:30 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to an armed robbery at Leonardo’s Convenience Store located at 95 Caledonia Road, Dartmouth. A man entered the store, produced a knife and demanded money. The suspect did not get any money but did take scratch tickets and several bags of dog food. The man was last seen leaving the area on foot, heading towards Main Street. No one was injured. 

Patrol officers and investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are completing a preliminary investigation and actively searching for the suspect. 

The suspect is described to police as being a white male, approximately 5’6” tall, between 30-40-years-old, wearing a black face mask, black winter jacket, grey hoodie, black jeans, white sneakers and carrying a green reusable shopping bag.
