Police charge man for fraud offences

Investigators with the Financial Crime Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have laid 24 charges against a man in relation to five fraud-related incidents.

Between May 2020 and May 2021, a man agreed to do home improvement and contracting work for a number of individuals. He required that the money be sent up-front, and, in most cases, funds were e-transferred. The man would not perform the work that was agreed upon and would stop communicating with the individuals.

Robert Allan Monk, 50, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Fraud (x3)
  • Fraud by other means (x3)
  • Fraud by credit card (x2)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (x3)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x3)
  • Breach of probation (x 10)
