At approximately 7:45 a.m. a member of the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 118 in Dartmouth. The officer observed the vehicle’s speed at 150 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
At approximately 9 a.m. a member of the Traffic Unit observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 102 in Halifax. The officer observed the vehicle’s speed at 125 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
A 29-year-old man and a 57-year-old man were ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act, a charge that is automatically laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. In addition, the two men were suspended from driving for seven days and the vehicles they were driving were seized and impounded.
The fine in Nova Scotia for stunting is $2,422.50 and six points are assigned to the driver’s record.
