Investigators with the Financial Crime Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have laid 52 charges against a man in relation to twenty-one fraud-related incidents that occurred last year.

Between January 2021 and November 2021, a man agreed to do home improvement and contracting work for a number of individuals. He required that the money be sent up-front, and in most cases, funds were e-transferred. The man would not perform the work that was agreed upon and would stop communicating with the clients.

Robert Allan Monk, 51, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:

  • Fraud under $5,000 (x 20)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x 20)
  • Fraud over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Breach of probation (x 10)

If you have lost money or your identity has been compromised as a result of a fraud, please report it to police by calling 902.490.5016. You can also report a scam where you haven’t been a victim to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
