Halifax Regional Police will hold a Police Day event on Wednesday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth. The event gives the public an opportunity to meet officers and learn first-hand about the work of various specialized HRP units such as the K-9 Unit, Forensic Identification Section and the Public Safety Unit.
Sunday marks the beginning of National Police Week (#NPW2022), an initiative from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) to encourage new connections between police and the communities they serve. This year, National Police Week runs from May 15 to 21 and its campaign theme is “Connected to our Communities”.
“We are excited to be back in person for our Police Week celebrations this year,” said HRP Chief Dan Kinsella. “It’s another opportunity for us to connect with community about services that we provide and we look forward to hearing from citizens.”
As part of HRP’s Police Day activities, recruitment officers will be available to answer questions about the 2023 cadet class. HRP is looking for people who are compassionate, community-minded and service-orientated to consider a career in policing.
