Police arrested a man in relation to five outstanding warrants for incidents that occurred over the last year.
Yesterday at approximately 8:35 p.m., members of the Halifax Regional Police Quick Response Unit arrested a man while they were investigating an unrelated matter in Halifax. The man had four warrants for his arrest in relation to HRP incidents and one for an incident investigated by the Truro Police Service.
On January 22, 2022, the man refused to stop for officers and was driving in a dangerous manner in the area of Bayers Road in Halifax. The man was arrested and later failed to appear in court when directed.
On April 27, 2022, the man was arrested and charged in relation to a drug trafficking investigation in Halifax. He failed to appear for court to face the charges.
On September 27, 2022, the man stole merchandise from Kent Building Supplies at 225 Chain Lake Drive in Halifax. On October 13, 2022, the man stole merchandise from Toys “R” Us at 15 Gale Terrace in Dartmouth. Officers had been actively seeking the man in relation to these investigations.
Tyler James MacKeigan, 21, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to answer for the missed court dates and to face new charges of:
- Theft under $5,000 (x2)
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (x2)
- Fail to attend court as directed (x2)
