Residents are invited to help clean up litter in their communities by using several municipal resources – including the Litterati mobile app, challenges issued by the municipality through the app, and the Great Nova Scotia Pick Me Up.
By using the Litterati mobile app and joining a challenge will enable the municipality to collect information on litter hot spots and makeup and will help inform future initiatives to mitigate litter in our communities.
Municipal Electoral District Litterati Challenge
Residents can join the new Electoral District Challenge by downloading the app and searching their municipal district number, plus the word “Cleanup.” (e.g. District 1 Cleanup). Residents can also join using the code “HRM” with their district number (e.g., HRM1).
In June 2023, zero waste prize kits will be awarded to the top three litter collectors in each district for the month of May. In October 2023, a second round of prizes will be awarded for the top three litter collectors in each district for the timeframe of April 1 to September 30, 2023. CLEANHRM Challenge
Alternatively, residents can join the ongoing CLEANHRM Challenge through the Litterati App using the join code: CLEANHRM.
The Great Nova Scotia Pick Me Up
The Great Nova Scotia Pick Me Up (GNSPMU) launches on Tuesday, April 11.
Between the months of April to November, residents can register at nspickmeup.ca. This initiative is coordinated by Divert Nova Scotia and is supported by the municipality. Upon registration, residents can pick up their free litter cleanup kit at their local Halifax Public Libraries location or at one of the three in-person municipal Customer Service Centers.
Informational webinars
The municipality’s Solid Waste Resources staff will be offering the following free webinars on how to download the Litterati app and how it can be used to directly benefit their cleanup efforts. Residents can join the webinars at: https://bit.ly/3JnvvB7, and will take place on the following days.
Tuesday, April 11 from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 13 from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m.

Les résidents sont invités à aider à nettoyer les déchets dans leurs collectivités en utilisant plusieurs ressources municipales – y compris l’application mobile Litterati, les défis lancés par la municipalité par l’intermédiaire de l’application, et le Great Nova Scotia Pick Me Up.
Défi Litterati de la circonscription municipale

Le Great Nova Scotia Pick Me Up
Le lancement du Great Nova Scotia Pick Me Up (GNSPMU) est le lundi 10 avril.
Entre avril et novembre, les résidents peuvent s’inscrire à l’adresse nspickmeup.ca. Cette initiative est coordonnée par Divert Nova Scotia et appuyée par la municipalité. Après l’inscription, les résidents peuvent se procurer leur trousse de nettoyage gratuite dans leur bibliothèque publique locale de Halifax ou dans l’un des trois centres de service à la clientèle municipaux en personne.
Webinaires d’information
Le personnel des Ressources en déchets solides de la municipalité offrira des webinaires gratuits sur la façon de télécharger l’application Litterati et de l’utiliser pour profiter directement de ses efforts de nettoyage.
