Halifax Regional Police has charged two people with firearms offences in relation to a search that occurred in Halifax yesterday.
At approximately 4 a.m. members of the Guns and Gangs and Drug units of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, with the assistance of Central Division Patrol officers and the Emergency Response Team, conducted a search of a residence in the 6800 block of Chebucto Road in relation to an ongoing investigation. Investigators arrested a man and a woman at the residence and seized a loaded firearm.
Dawson Lewis Carrington Jordan, 35, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face the following charges:
- Possession of firearm obtained by commission of an offence
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm or ammunition with no license
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unsafe storage of a firearm contrary to regulations
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a court order (x4)
- Breach of a court order (x2)
- Breach of probation (x2)
A 36-year-old woman is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face the following charges:
- Possession of firearm obtained by commission of an offence
- Careless use of a firearm
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm or ammunition with no license
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unsafe storage of a firearm contrary to regulations
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
