Police arrest suspects in robberies

Yesterday police arrested two people in relation to three robberies that occurred across the province this week.

On June 24 at approximately 10:20 p.m. police members of the Truro Police Service responded to a robbery that had just occurred at the Mobile Gas Bar located at 42 Elm Street in Truro. A man with a bat demanded cash and left in a white SUV with a female passenger.

At approximately 10:40 p.m. officers from the East Hants District RCMP responded to a robbery that had occurred at the Petro Canada gas station in Elmsdale. A man with a hammer demanded cash and fled in a white SUV.

At approximately 10:59 p.m. Halifax Regional Police members responded to a robbery at the Mobil Gas Station at 1748 Bedford Highway in Bedford. A man with a hammer entered the store, demanded cash, damaged a display case, and fled with a quantity of cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets. The man left in a white SUV.

On June 25 at approximately 4:30 a.m. members from the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Highway 103 that matched the suspect vehicle in the robberies. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver, passenger and seized a bat and hammer from the vehicle.

Kyle Jeffrey Rogers, 40, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of:          

  • Robbery
  • Disguise with intent
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • Operation of a conveyance while prohibited

Sarah Dawn Godfrey, 35, is also scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face one count of robbery.
