BY-LAW U-118, RESPECTING USER CHARGES

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that By-law U-118, Respecting User Charges was adopted by Halifax Regional Council on August 6, 2024.

By-law U-118 amends By-law U-100 Respecting User Charges. The purpose of the amendment is to reflect changes to current fare products, in line with Regional Council approval of the 2024/25 Budget.

The text of the amended By-law U-100 may be obtained from the Office of the Municipal Clerk, 1841 Argyle Street, 1st floor, Halifax between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Legislation and By-laws may also be reviewed online.

NOTICE OF APPROVAL

BY-LAW M-402, RESPECTING AMENDMENTS TO BY-LAW M-400, MARKETING LEVY BY-LAW

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that By-law M-402, Respecting Marketing Levy, was adopted by Halifax Regional Council on August 20, 2024.

By-law M-402 amends By-law M-400, Respecting Marketing Levy. The purpose of the amendment is to implement recent amendments to the Halifax Regional Municipality Charter requiring platform operators to collect and remit the marketing levy.

NOTICE OF APPROVAL

BY-LAW R-500, RESPECTING THE DESIGNATION OF ROAD TRAILS ON MUNICIPAL HIGHWAYS

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that By-law R-500, Respecting the Designation Of Road Trails On Municipal Highways was adopted by Halifax Regional Council on September 10, 2024.

The purpose of By-law R-500 is to provide the ability for Council to designate road trails on HRM roadways, allowing for the operation of off-highway vehicles on those roadways designated as road trails.

NOTICE OF APPROVAL

BY-LAW S-454, RESPECTING CHARGES FOR STREET IMPROVEMENTS

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that By-law S-454, Respecting Charges for Street Improvements was adopted by Halifax Regional Council on September 10, 2024.

By-law S-454 amends By-law S-400, Respecting Charges for Street Improvements. The purpose of the amendment is to impose a Local Improvement Charge (LIC) to 19 properties for the paving of Lakehill Drive, Gaetz Brook.

NOTICE OF APPROVAL

BY-LAW U-119 RESPECTING USER CHARGES

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that By-law U-119, Respecting User Charges was adopted by Halifax Regional Council on September 10, 2024.

By-law U-119 amends By-law U-100, Respecting User Charges. The purpose of the amendment is to develop and establish user fees to reflect the adoption of a new playing field classification system, as well as general updates.

Amendments to Schedule 1 of By-law U-100 are effective September 21, 2024. The text of the amended By-law U-100 may be  obtained from the Office of the Municipal Clerk, 1841 Argyle Street, 1st floor, Halifax between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Legislation and By-laws may also be reviewed online.

Amendments to Schedules 3 & 4 of By-law U-100 will be effective April 1, 2025. This future updated version of By-law U-100 will be posted to the Internet in the Legislation & By-law section of halifax.ca closer to its effective date. In the interim, the future version of By-law U-100 can be requested and obtained from the Office of the Municipal Clerk by emailing clerks@halifax.ca, calling 902-490-4210 or faxing 902-490-4208.

NOTICE OF APPROVAL

BY-LAW M-301, RESPECTING MICROMOBILITY

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that By-law M-301, Respecting Micromobility was adopted by Halifax Regional Council on September 3, 2024.

By-law M-301 amends By-law M-300, Respecting Micromobility. The purpose of the amendment is to enable regulation of shared micromobility businesses in preparation for a two-year shared micromobility pilot program, as approved by Regional Council in 2023.

The text of the amended By-law M-300 can be requested and obtained from the Office of the Municipal Clerk by emailing clerks@halifax.ca, calling 902-490-4210 or faxing 902-490-4208. The updated version of By-law M-300 will be posted to the Internet in the Legislation & By-law section of halifax.ca prior to its effective date on December 1, 2024.

NOTICE OF SECOND READING

BY-LAW P-104, RESPECTING THE BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS FOR THE HALIFAX REGIONAL MUNICIPALITY

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Halifax Regional Municipality will consider the adoption of By-law P-104 at a meeting of Regional Council to be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 held virtually.

By-law P-104 will amend By-law P-100, Respecting The Board Of Police Commissioners For The Halifax Regional Municipality. The purpose of the amendment is to include language defining the role of the Commissioner of Public Safety position, and the clarification of the respective roles and responsibilities of the Board, the Commissioner and different business units of the Municipality.

The Council will receive written submissions from interested persons concerning the above by-law at the October 1, 2024 session of Council. Written submissions must be received by the Municipal Clerk’s Office no later than 9:00 a.m. on the advertised date.  Written submissions may be forwarded to the Municipal Clerk by email, clerks@halifax.ca; by fax, 902-490-4208; or by mail, P.O.
