The Halifax Regional Municipality invites interested residents to apply to host a neighbourhood placemaking project in their community.

Placemaking projects aim to beautify the streets, inspire closer connections between neighbours, and bring a sense of safety through a more connected community. Possible projects may include painting an intersection, building a bench for a local gathering place, or installing a community film screen. New project ideas are also encouraged.

Municipal staff are available to discuss and develop project ideas prior to the application deadline and will also provide support to community members to design accessible, creative and successful project plans once an application has been approved. A small amount of financial partnership support is available for each accepted project.
