At 9:12 p.m. on January 1, east division patrol members responded to the Needs Convenience store at 275 Baker Drive. A lone female employee reported a male entered the store wearing a mask while holding a knife and demanding cash and cigarettes. The employee was not injured and the suspect fled the scene with cash and cigarettes.
HRP K-9 and patrol members set up containment. A short time later, at 9:35 p.m., a 19-year-old male, known to police, was arrested without incident outside a residence on Morningfield Lane. The residence is being held pending a search warrant.
The accused will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court later today facing charges of robbery and two counts of breach of a recognizance.
Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are currently assisting.
