Investigators in the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a man who attempted to rob a bank in Halifax and then went on to rob a bank in Lower Sackville on February 10.
Just after 10 a.m., a man entered the East Coast Credit Union located at 120 Kearney Lake Road. The man wanted to cash a cheque but was advised that the tellers do not have cash on site. The man then jumped over the counter and started opening drawers. He indicated he had a weapon but none was seen by witnesses. As the man was unable to locate any money, he jumped back over the counter and fled the bank on foot in the direction of Parkland Drive. Patrol officers as well as K9 attended but didn’t locate the suspect.
Then at approximately 11:50 a.m., Halifax District RCMP officers responded to a robbery at Scotiabank on Sackville Drive in Lower Sackville. A man entered the business and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Police officers combed the area but were not able to locate the suspect. No one was injured during this incident.
The suspect in both instances is described as a white man, middle aged with a beard. He was wearing a dark toque, black gloves, a green or gray hoodie tucked into tan overalls and work boots. Photos of the suspect are attached.
