Halifax Regional Police have charged two men in connection with a robbery that occurred this morning in Halifax. Police do not believe this to be a random act.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., police were called to the area of Birmingham and Morris Streets in relation to a man who had been stabbed.
Upon arrival, officers found a 44-year-old Halifax man suffering from stab wounds. The victim was transported to hospital by EHS, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries to his hands. He was later released.
While attempting to locate the suspects responsible, an officer located a man matching the description of one of the suspects, leaving a residence in the area and a foot chase ensued. Officers caught the 26-year-old man nearby and arrested him. The investigation continued and officers arrested another 25-year-old man later on in the evening at King Street in Dartmouth. Both men were held in custody over night as the investigation continued.
Twenty-six-year-old Shane Lee Croke and 25-year-old Joseph William Hecimovich, both from Dartmouth, have each been charged with robbery with a weapon in relation to this incident. Croke has also been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault causing bodily harm. Hecimovich has also been charged with two counts of breaching a probation order. They are both scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today.
