Halifax Regional Police has referred an incident to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT).
On June 3 at approximately 1:50 a.m., police were dispatched to the 5000 block of North Street in Halifax to respond to a noise complaint. Shortly after police arrived, a man approached and began yelling at the officers. The man was arrested for breach of the peace and transported to police headquarters.
On June 14, HRP received a complaint from the man that one of the officers involved had used excessive force causing physical harm. On July 18, after receiving the man’s medical records, HRP referred the incident to SiRT. All media inquiries in relation to this referral should be directed to SiRT.
