Forty grade nine students, each a child, relative or friend of one of our employees, are participating in a day full of activities that provide a glimpse into the work of officers and civilians within HRP.
The students reported for duty at 8:30 a.m. and received a briefing from Chief Blais to start their day. Throughout the day they’ll observe employees in the K-9 Unit, Emergency Response Team and Forensic Identification Section. They’ll also attend Nova Scotia Provincial Court and a presentation of the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.
A national program, Take Our Kids to WorkDay sees Grade 9 (or equivalent) students hosted by parents, friends, relatives and volunteers at workplaces across the country the first Wednesday of November each year. The intention of the program, which was established in 1994, is to encourage students’ to consider career options for the future by connecting their education with the work world.
