Police investigate weapons complaint in Dartmouth

Halifax Regional Police are currently investigating a weapons complaint that was reported early this morning in Dartmouth.

At 3:39 a.m., officers attended the area of Tacoma Drive and Valleyfield Road for a weapons call. The caller stated that ten minutes earlier she heard multiple gun shots and saw people running in the area. Police immediately responded and were unable to locate any people, vehicles or evidence of a shooting following a canvass of the area and K-9 search.

A short time later, a 16-year-old male youth from Dartmouth attended a local hospital with what appears to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his hand. This is reported to have occurred in the area of Tacoma Drive around the time of the initial weapons complaint. 

This matter is in the early stages of the investigation. Members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact police at 902-490-5016.
