Police investigating weapons complaint #Go19-44339

Update: The two men police had in custody regarding last nights weapons incident have been released from custody pending further investigation.

Halifax Regional Police have two adult males in custody in relation to a weapons complaint. On March 27, 2019 at approximately 11:00 p.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to the 2300 block of Gottingen St., Halifax after local residents reported hearing possible shots fired.  Police members working in the area also heard the shots fired and were on scene within seconds. A local business sustained damages as a result of the gun fire.  A suspect vehicle was observed fleeing the scene southbound on Gottingen St.  An unidentified male, on foot, was observed fleeing the scene northbound on Gottingen St.

At 11:40 p.m. police observed the suspect vehicle on Trollope St., Halifax and initiated a traffic stop. Two men, ages 23 and 24, were arrested without incident and their vehicle seized by police. They remain in police custody and are being interviewed by investigators.

At this time investigators do not believe the intended target was struck but the gunfire. A section of Gottingen St. between Prince William St. and Buddy Daye St. was temporarily blocked to allow investigators to process the scene. Members of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are investigating and do not believe this is a random incident.
