Fireworks at HRM Parks
If your special event involves fireworks, you must obtain permission from HRM Parks and Recreation. Fireworks are only permitted at approved sites, and you must follow the guidelines below:
Consumer Fireworks
- Consumer firework displays require a minimum of two (2) weeks' notice.
- Minimum $5 Million liability insurance is required.
- Minimum site clearance of 30m x 30m (100ft x 100ft) is required. HRM Fire Services must be consulted regarding firing distances and clearances before a site can be approved and a contract issued. For a list of approved sites, please contact Facility Scheduling.
- Firework shows must be completed before 11:00 pm to adhere to HRM's Noice By-Law requirements. Some exemptions apply.
- Fireworks can only be held if the Provincial burn restrictions allow. If a burn ban is in place, fireworks will not be permitted.
Display Fireworks
Display fireworks are high-hazard and restricted to professional use only. Residents are required to hire a professional pyrotechnician when using display-grade fireworks on HRM property.
