Sorting Guides

This page contains the most recent Waste Sorting Guides for households that receive curbside collection (six units or fewer), apartment buildings, condominiums, and businesses.

Every building in the Halifax region (including single-family households, multi-unit residential buildings, restaurants, commercial properties, and institutions) is required to separate garbage, recycling, organics (green cart), paper and cardboard for collection, as outlined in Bylaw S-600 [PDF].
