What is the Seniors’ Home Safety Program?
The Seniors’ Home Safety Program (SHSP) is a free service that provides information and tips to help seniors stay safe in their homes. It is for seniors 55+ living in Halifax, Dartmouth and communities extending from Bedford to the Sambro Loop. The program is delivered by trained volunteers, who are also seniors.
Safety presentations & community information events:
Community groups can request SHSP attend a public information-sharing event or do an informative home safety presentation provided by our trained volunteers. Participants will learn important safety information on several topics:
- Property Crime Prevention
- Elder Abuse
- Frauds & Scams
- Fire Safety
- Falls Prevention
- General Safety Inside & Outside the Home
