How to become an adult leader with the Halifax Regional Police Youth Program
First things first, you must:
- Be 21 years or older
- Have a valid driver's licence and a good driving record
- Enjoy working with youth. Previous experience in a leadership role or working with youth would be an asset.
- Be mature, responsible, self-motivated, and safety oriented
- Be a team player who’s reliable and adaptable
- Have sound decision-making skills
- Commit to the Halifax Regional Police Youth Program for at least a year
- Be able to attend regular meetings on Thursday evenings at the Halifax Regional Police Northbrook Training Centre (2 Chapman Street, Dartmouth), as well as be available at different times throughout the year for activities and events.
- Pass the Halifax Regional Police security clearances
What would I do as an adult leader with the Halifax Regional Police Youth Program?
As a leader with the youth program, you would work as part of a team to:
- promote the program
- plan and participate in activities and outings
- direct, mentor, and ensure the safety of youth members of the program
- attend meetings and training sessions
- attend external activities and events
- provide support and encouragement
What is the Halifax Regional Police Youth Program?
The Halifax Regional Police Youth Program provides youth who have an interest in policing with a fun, meaningful way to build leadership skills and take an active role in their communities. Youth program members participate in educational, community-related, and recreational activities throughout the year.
