We invite members of the planning, design, development and non-profit community as well as students to submit projects to the 2025 Urban Design Awards.
Submissions must be completed and received before 11:59 PM, February 10, 2025.
Once the call for submissions is complete, a jury of urban design experts will consider the submissions. HRM staff or Jury members may request to visit the site and take photos or videos for jury reference.

Details
- Project Eligibility
Projects or plans must have been completed after January 1, 2020 to qualify for the 2025 awards. Previously submitted projects are not eligible to apply again.
Projects located in any area of the municipality are eligible for submission.
Projects should meet the criteria of one of the award categories. Details on each award category can be found on the main Urban Design Awards webpage.
- Submission Checklist
- Complete the submission form online or fill out the PDF
- Prepare a project report that provides a unique representation of your project’s story and highlights key elements that best represent the category your project is submitted under. Your team can combine text, sketches, drawings, videos and photos in a report format of no more than 15 pages (please submit in PDF format).
- Pay the entry fee and include the payment receipt in your submission package OR email to urbandesign@halifax.ca
- Submit your project online, by email, by mail or in person (see tab below)
- How to Submit a Project
There are multiple ways to submit a project to the 2025 Urban Design Awards, including:
- Online Form: fill out the required information and upload your project report using the online form. If your project report exceeds the maximum file upload size of 30 MB, you can send it by email (urbandesign@halifax.ca), by mail or in person (see details below)
- By email: Send the completed form and project report in a combined PDF to urbandesign@halifax.ca
By mail: Mail the completed form and project report as a combined PDF on an encrypted USB key to the following address:

- Entry Fee & How to Pay
A non-refundable entry fee of $402.50 (tax included) must accompany each project submission. Submissions by students, community and not-for profit organizations are exempt from the fee.
